what part of the metro?
my favorite lake the northern metro is big marine lake east of forest lake. it has slop, weedlines, docks and reeds. but the thing that is good is that it has a nice weedline. by mid summer the lakes around chisago turn on.it depends on what you are looking for

Got a good trolling motor on that boat and a couple batteries?

You cant beat Calhoun for average size on bass ... numbers are good too. Honest 5 lb fish are common.. worth the parking hassle.

I'll fight off sail boats anyday vs jet ski's and bayliners.

Matix10, What map do you have? There are 3 maps out there. You have the DNR map, the Lakemaps map, and the Hotspot map. The Hotspot map is by far the best map of Medicine. As far as areas. You can catch bass anywhere in that lake. You've got docks, weedlines, flats, reeds/bulrush, milfoil, midlake humps, rock piles, you name it, Medicine has it in terms of structure. I'm not going to give my spots away on this site, but maybe we could meet up sometime? smile.gif

My majority of bassin is in Ottertail County, but I will side with Fisher Dave.
Calhoun and Harriet have treated me well in the few times I have been there.

I guess I just don't have that one solid metro lake that I drool over, for bassin. There are so darn many.

i have the sportsman connection west metro area fishing guide. I do have a 18 ft yarcraft with a minnkota bow mount and enough batteries to last. I will be hitting up ALL metro area lakes for the big bucketmouths this spring and summer. I have a question about the patterns of the minnesota bass. What will be there activity and depth during the next couple months. I am new to fishing the northern largemouth. I hope this is not a dumb question but all my bass knowledge comes from magazines and fishing shows wich are usually filmed or reported in the south. Thanks everyone for the tips and keep em coming. good fishing.

Well, I dont consider the Chisagolakes area the metro, but that is my fave... because I live here. I did however grow up in the metro and I'll tell you what. Lake Calhoon and Hariet are two of the best bass lakes in the state. And get VERY LITTLE PRESSURE because parking and t-moer only can be a pain. But if you get there early there are some hog bass and lots of them!
