Rip_Some_Lip
I found a deal at a local garage sale tonight. I found a used Classic II Holland Grill that I picked up for $50. I got it home and hooked up a propane tank and lit it up. I left it run for a few minutes and it seems to work good. We are planning on trying it out tomorrow night to see how it cooks.I have a buddy that swears on his Holland Grill and I am tired of my wife and I burning chicken or most anything from flare ups. I tried searching the forums for info on these grills with little success so I hope I am not beating a dead horse...lol. I was just looking for some tips on cooking with this grill. I see on youtube that I can smoke on it also although this older model does not have the wood chip drawer like the new ones. Can I wrap wood chips in tinfoil and set them on the drip pan or cooking grid? Also I see I can get a thermometer for about $25 and drill some holes in the top to install it. Is that something you would suggest? It doesn't have a stainless steel cooking grid or stainless steel drip pan. They must be regular steel and are pretty rusty although seem sturdy. I emailed the company to see if I can get stainless replacements and asked for a price. It looked like about $200 for both of them on newer models. Is that something I should look into also and is it worth the extra money? I see a new grill starts at about $700. I appreciate any tips you may have. Thanks. PurpleFloyd
Well, we could get some steaks and try it out.I used to work with DeGroods in Mankato all of the time and they have sold them for years. If you have technical questions or need any parts give them a call.

Rip_Some_Lip
Made some very good BBQ chicken on it tonight! Tomorrow I am going to slow cook some baby back pork ribs. Just not sure if I should do one rack or two. I am thinking of trying a pan of cheesy potatoes on it with the ribs since it cooks like an oven. Has anyone tried that?
