big bass lakes

I know most people on here won't want to post on this but I think it'd be fun to hear some lakes people like going to for big bass. I'm not talking about going and catching 50 15" bass I'm talking 5lb fish. I like green in Chicago but its been hit very hard this year with tourneys and fishing's tough.

Mille Lacs. I wasn't even excited about a 4lber by the end of the day..

Tons of small lakes in the area that will turn out multiple 4-5 + lbers every trip, the only thing you can do is go fish them and see, I can tell you I don't go back to a lake if it was a dink fest the first time out, if I catch or see big fish it will keep me coming back.

Anybody try mille lacs for large mouths?

Asked the same question about a year ago got some good replies, might want to search it-many people said the city lakes. I love to fish Turtle, White Bear and Big Marine but all 3 are no good for size but great for#s.

Caught quite a few Largemouth and good size in Wahkon Bay several times over the past few years but usually go smallmouth fishing if I'm up there.

Before you could keep smallmouth on the big pond the tournaments were largemouth only and if you did not have 18 lbs on a 5 fish bag you rarely cashed a check.

I might have to make a trip up there for large mouths... As for turtle lake I got a spot out there I can pull 4lb bass all day long but I like to try new lakes and new tactics.

I'd imagine not many people fish for large mouth on mille lacs and going in the bays and dishing weedlines could be pretty productive.
