I'm helping my son out this year. He has a tag in 51. We have a similar approach to Lichen fox. We will bait later this year as we are tired of feeding them to have them disappear just a day or two before season. Different approach this year after talking to a DNR bear experts. It will be hard to wait though! More bears than deer on our property this year too! Berries everywhere though. Getting stoked!

I am waiting on a surplus tag myself. Still scouted out an entirely new area of the state for this year. It looks promising but I will have to see how many hunters are in the area.

Bugs were bad, lots of berries but found scat and tracks in several different areas.

Change up your bait. And they won't leave.

Thanks protrapper. I try to keep it fresh and change it up a bit, but I suppose i could vary it a bit more at that critical time, just before the actual hunt. Thanks for the tip on keeping them a comin. This year, I think I will wait til later in the game to start the baiting process. Let the rest of the gang feed em, and let the berries dry up, then steal one away from ya'll with the secret formula in the last few days! I've always envied the guys who can steal away the bear I've been feeding, so I decided to join that fraternity, instead of enabling them for yet another season! I will be going no-quota myself but I already have some smallish bears on camera in that area too. I got a few under the belt, so It will either be a big one, or a film session only this year. I say that now....who am I kidding?

I am going to have to start applying in Wisconsin so I can bear hunt more than once every 4 years.

Good luck with that. 7-8 years to draw in the northern part of the state, not as bad in the central part if you know someone with private land you can hunt.
