older autopilot mnkota

I have an older mn kota auto pilot from 1993 and it will be working and then it will start rotating around ,just wondering if any one would have suggesstatoins

It could be the compass module or a sensitivity adjustment. Should be a fairly cheap fix.

A new compass board for a Powerdrive V2 is about $120. I don't know about older models, but it would probably be close to the same cost. On my V2, I pulled the head cover off and could see the compass not responding to direction changes.

I went to get a compass for this and they do not make parts for this model any more ,they changed the compass and said I could not get parts for this

Bring it into a service center and ask about getting the compass recalibrated.

I had a similar problem with a newer unit.

Took it to the service center in Bloomington.

Bad compass. $150.00 to replace.

They told me they freeze up if left out in the cold which I did not know.

The boat was kept in an unheated barn.

Now I protect it in the winter.
