Walleyehooker
Trying to figure out best way to get this off and changed. Looks to me like right front tire and access plate might need to be removed to get to the tensioner but still not sure. Seen some reviews online going from the top but these may be an earlier model. Its packed in there for a 4 cylinder and cant even see much from the top. Don't want to tear into it until Im sure Im going in the right direction. Jeremy airjer W
There are four different engine options. Always post a Year, Make, Model, and Engine Size to make make sure everyone is on the same page. Make a quick diagram of the belt routing. Use an appropriate tool to release the tension on the belt. If you can access the tensioner from the top than there is no need to remove the tire and cover. If you are having trouble getting a tool on the tensioner than try removing the tire and cover to see if it makes it easier. Some of these have a hydraulic tensioner. It takes a lot of effort to get them to release the tension. If you do not have a good grip on the nut don't try to cheat. We see them all the time stripped after failed attempts to remove the belt. There is really nothing to it. Just dig in.
jmd1
Only other input is that if you do have to remove the tire, please please put a jack stand under the car. good luck
Walleyehooker
Got it done. Had to remove right front tire and access panel. Had little hydraulic shock type tensioner.
