Antlers for Chewing

Anyone giving their dogs antlers for chewing? We bought one last night, and my lab LOVES it. My only concern is that he is getting small pieces off of it. Is that going to hurt anything? The pieces are about the size of a kernel of corn.

I'm sure it's fine, but just curious.

Here's what happened to me. First day home with new 8 month old male lab and I'm in the kitchen and pup is checking out his new lodging, then "Crash" I turned around and puppy has the antler lamp off the end table on the floor checking it out.

my dog loves them too, that was the only thing i allowed him to chew on after knuckle bones made him sick. now that hes 3, he doesnt chew on it constantly like when he was younger, i went through 3 antlers a year now this small one is lasting over a year. just watch out for sharp points and small pieces that can become choking hazards. If you get a sharp point, i would cut it off

I have an acquaintance who makes lamps out of shed antlers. He gives me the scraps. Dogs love them. Don't splinter like bones, last longer than fake plastic chew toys. They're the way to go, IMHO.
