Vex..flasher for boat fishing?

Strap the ducer to a board and clamp the board to the transom, It probably won't work very well at speed, but trolling should work ok. Also could be used strapped to a bow mount motor. If you want to get fancy, maybe Vexilar has a ducer for boat use.

If you have an aluminum boat that doesn't have a floor, you can shoot through the hull by just placing the transducer in a small puddle of water in the bottom of the boat. I use a small plastic lid from a leech container to keep the transducer from getting scratched up, but have heard of people siliconing a piece of pvc pipe to the bottom of their boat so the water doesn't go everywhere and the transducer doesn't tip over so much. (works great for the canoe or if you rent a rowboat for the day.)

a couple keys to not getting frustrated with the transducer. The first time I tried it the clamp I used made a rooster tail go up in the air and water came into the boat and on me. I had to retro fit the thing so that didn't happen. I had to spend a bit of time to find a good spot to get a clear reading out of prop wash, bubbles etc. Like mentioned plan on it working best when you are moving slow.

Also, don't forget to tie the transducer to something so if it comes off transom it doesn't get eaten by the prop. Plan on taking a bit of time to get it rigged and it will work but don't expect it to work as well as it does sitting stationary in your ice hole.

Thanks.I will see what I can come up with for a transducer.

Just about all sports retailers have the HS transducer in stock for the vexs. I think I picked my last one up at fleet farm.
