Side by side use?

I live in NE MN, have an ATV, and am considering getting a side by side. Can I drive a side by side on the same trails as an ATV? How does the "useability" differ between the two? What are the down sides of getting a side by side?

I have a hard time justifying an ATV now that I have a Ranger.

Better people hauler, more payload, more storage/box space. Plus you can accessorize them to your wildest dreams.

ATV's are nice for tight trails and have other purposes but I never find my self wishing I had an ATV handy.

Polaris has so many SxS offerings to fit needs from a footprint and power standpoint. You can get the best of the best with a 900XP or you can look for a value machine with a 500cc engine and a mid-sized frame. Lots of possibilities.
