this to long for fuel hose?

hi i have a 14 foot boat i put a battery in it for the trolling motor in back. this is the spot i used to put the 3 gallon fuel tank. i would like to put it up front more it would be about 8 feet long from motor to tank. its a 9.9 yamaha 2 stroke is this to far? i don't want to wreck the motor or fuel pump thanks

I have seen setups with the gas tank up front for weight on a small boat and the hose ran back to the motor...my friends had this set up and liked it

I used a setup like that with a 25 merc 2 stroke & it worked as good as when the tank was in the back.

Did this also on a 14' aluminum boat,worked fine.

As far as I know it's vacuum that pushes the fuel into the motor. I once had a 3 gallon spare can and had a 12 foot hose moving the gas back to a 30 hp motor and never had a problem. I would guess there were have to be a max length.
