Hunting and fishing customers can now purchase some hunting and fishing license types on their mobile devices. Any license that requires a site tag such as deer or turkey is not available for mobile purchase.

Once a customer purchases and receives mobile license information by text, email or both, he or she must be able to provide the email or text information to an enforcement officer upon request as proof of a valid license.

Mobile device users will automatically be identified when visiting the DNR HSOforum at mndnr.gov/buyalicense and selecting the "Purchase" button at the bottom of the page.

Thanks to whoever started this thread. I've always heard that MN angling licenses end towards the end of February. For 2012 mine says:

"Expires February 28, 2013 (unless noted elsewhere)"

But, I have always utilized that "elsewhere" because I buy a trout stamp, and lower down it says:

"Effective dates: 03/01/2012 - 04/30/2013"

I just looked at my 2013 license and the ink is so rubbed off that I can hardly read it, but I am pretty sure the last effective date is "02/2x/2014"

So that means if I want to go do a little trout fishing through the ice in March in some of the metro trout lakes, I need to go buy a new license.

Like you others have said, I wish they would pick a date and stick with it.

BTW - Wisconsin licenses are good til March 31, 2014 - lookin' at mine right now.

Thanks again everyone for the reminder.
