Not to sound like a smark ask or derk, but wouldnt the best option be to put houses on blocks or monitor your house more often... I ve had a house for 30yrs and never even came close to this... sorry

I block my permy up as well to avoid freeze down. I found that a good old fashioned pick axe is much better then a chisel for loosening up skids froze down. A bit longer then the 30.06 but generally makes short work of getting one unstuck without the danger to yourself and others. It works awesome for freeing up the blocking after you move the shack too!
