Moonshine
I am looking to buy the Otter Medium ATV box and get the slide on ATV auger shield. I noticed that the shield says it will fit a 10" auger. I have an 8" auger. Will the auger be a little loose in the shield? I am concerned that it may harm the auger if it is loose in the shield and bouncing around. Hopefully someone else has experience with this and can help. I am making a couple late ice trips this year that involve some significant travel that is tough on the gear. The Otter gear should help, just concerned about the auger shield size issue.Any input is much appreciated!

Moonshine
Yes, Otter makes a 8 & 10 inch shield with the carry handle. I have only seen the 10 inch model for the ATV carrier. Thanks for the input.
fsnrod
It looks like you have to bungee the auger in it. The bottom is made so the auger centers it self in the case it might not bang around I suppose you could put a piece of that white closed cell foam in the bottom of the case. Dave
That's exactly what I did when I tested the Otter Shield years ago. You can see the white foam insert and bungee cord.
Moonshine
Thanks guys. Thats what I will do. Just wasn't sure if I was missing the 8" option.
Dave
Over the last few years I've used it without the foam insert, too. Just used a bungee across each handle and it worked well. I drilled holes in the lip of the shield for the bungee hooks to go into.
