picksbigwagon
Most accurate gun in my safe, best shot for me was 75 yds. on a squirell in the ear, yes. I was aiming for the ear, he was down below me on a ridge in NE IA. I was using shooting sticks and my buddy couldn't believe I took the shot, but those 20 gr. hornady's are like a laser beam
fishuhalik
Ditto that, great guns! A little small for anything past 200-250yds & doesn't like wind, but they are little bury lazer beams! A buddy has one with a suppressor that he uses for prairie dogs and that thing is quiet as could be. Great for gun-shy prairie dogs & yotes under 100 yards
Gordie
P.O. Ackley has a handloaders book that he talks about the .17 cal as a great rifle, but that is the center fire big brother of the .17 cal family. I know that my next rim fire will be a .17HMR
harvey lee
Bought one about 6 years ago very accurate rifle, mine is also a Savage with the accu trigger
minky
When I first bought my .17 I was showing my dad.We decided to try it out in the back yardEvery time he fired it he had a big smile on his face!He couldn't believe the power over a regular .22. 92GSteve
Got the Savage with the laminate thumb hole stock and it just looks cool. First 3 shots sighting it in were touching. Adjusted the scope and the next 3 shots in the bullseye were touching too. That was on a lead sled but was pleasantly surprised. Mine likes the CCI ammo but any breeze beyond 100 yards seems to push it around. When 22 ammo was hard to find it seemed like every place still had a bunch of 17. HNTNBUX
I just picked up a Ruger American 17 HMR and I am still waiting for the Burris 4.5 X 14 to arrive. I don't think it will be as accurate as a Savage with its lighter barrel but it's main duty will be practice for my daughter. It will be cheaper than shooting a 7mm 08. Comit 2
Now this is my dream .17 HMR. To bad we in Minnesota are one of the few states that can't own firearms like this. Some European countries prefer you to have guns like this.
harvey lee
Yep, awesome rifle. My granddaughter has a hard time picking between the Nylon 77 .22 cal over the 17hmr. Both are very light, easy for a 12 year old and very accurate also.Tough to beat the Savage for accuracy and trigger pull.
