2014 New Decoys Thread...

Well, we made it to 7 pages of decoys from several different carvers last year. Figured we might as well get a new one started for this year.

Feel free to post pictures of your decoys here. New ones you have made, stuff you have found, or purchased/ordered. To quote a friend of mine "we likes 'em all, big and small".

I will start it out... First one to come out of the shop for the year. I havent had it in the water yet, but it will swim on Saturday I'm sure. Don't like where the ballance point ended up, but I am not all that good with the wooden tails yet. It's almost 12" nose to tail.

I found this lure at an antique shop and liked the colors, so I tried to mimic it...

All but one sold, actually 2 a friend bought at a swap meet and weren't working decoys, but I made them work now, ones mine, lol!

No problem thank you, what better person to get a flathead decoy then a guy that has a catfish in every profile picture, lol!

Nice work Jason. You do a real nice job keeping the attention to detail up even while doing a big batch. I can't if much larger than 5-6 or I start skipping the little things.

Thanks, its hard to keep it all straight but I write things down and paint each group of decoys in steps, between the paint and clear coat I had about 15 hours on the airbrush, lol!

It looks better than the pic. In the morning starts a fishing derby, the lake I'm on has lots of shad in it. It looks to be a great fit. The colors look great also. This might bring that pig in that's been sliding by the hole

I had a 34" and I am thinking a 42" plus fish come side by siding up to my new decoy. This is the first time I have ever had 2 fish that big at the same time. I couldn't get a clean shot at the bigger fish, so I didn't throw.

The best 45 seconds of my life. A few old timer know what I'm talking about, it's was fun and to think you only get a few chances in a life time like this.

Later a guy about 40 yards away had a fish come between his feet up to his decoy, that was as wide as his 9" decoy. He looked at the fish and thought that it was as big as the 43", he thought he had on the wall, so he watched it swim. Same fish, I don't know same fish. Its great to think what if. Its been quite a long day. I just wanted to share this.

That is a great story Hawkeye.

I had a similar experience last season and hoping I can get back to that lake again before close of season this year.
