Scoot
...and what's the importance of an altimeter when trying to find elk? Are elk easier to pattern with it or just knowing where you're at? NoWiser is right for finding locations on the map. An altimeter may also be very helpful in locating an elevation that elk are gravitating towards. Sometimes, a large percentage of elk will spend their time at a particular elevation. Knowing that elevation will be helpful in finding critters. NoWiser
Cool story, makes me want to go now. Where did you buy your pack at? Did u get it online or locally? Frogtosser,You can only order them from Kifaru's HSOforum. I do need to warn you, though, make sure you are sitting down when you pull it up. They aren't cheap but, for how I hunt, my pack should last me a very, very long time. They also come up used from time to time but hold their value very well. If you want some info shoot me a PM and I can let you know where to watch. If you are ever down in the south metro and want to check mine out let me know. It's a pretty big investment for a pack that you can't see before you buy. I don't regret the purchase one bit, though.
