Ever bring your dog out to the spear shack?

I always feel bad leaving my dog at home alone while I'm out spearing all day, has anyone brought their dog out with them? I figure if I put her harness on and tie her up while I'm cutting the hole and tie her off to one of my quickfish anchors she would be ok, not worried about her running away, more her falling in the hole. I always lay down a piece of carpeting too.

She loves to go out in the boat with me

My dog comes with a majority of the time he picks his corner and just lays there, he knows where the spear hole is and knows not to step there even when we regular ice fish he doesn't leave the floor. In the boat he's more of a pain just moves around more and wants to bite at the lures.

Your dog is funny.

I brought my 1st lab out spearing when I was in High School circa 1977. Big mistake she was fascinated watching the decoy and would not settle down drove me crazy. One trip was enough. She only lasted a couple times in the boat as she jumped in after every released fish. I have never tried it with any of my other dogs since.

I brought my old dog out all the time, now I have two and I'll bring one out occasionally.

My old dog would stare down the hole all day and from his vantage point he'd see fish come in before me, it was nice sometimes. The ones I have now aren't that bright but they're company in the shack.
