I just use some old bike tubes and fill them with sand. That works great for me and does not take up to much room in the sled at all. Other things i have sone is drill holes that dont go all the way through the ice on the corners and use the ice shavings from the holes to use as banking.

If you drill holes like you described above please do everyone a favor and fill them back in and put some water in them so they freeze solid. This can lead to someone breaking an ankle while walking off the ice after sunset. Your fishing holes will skim over and refreeze so they are not an issue most times. But, without going through the ice there is no water to freeze and those holes will be there until the ice melts. You could also punch them through when you leave so they fill up and freeze.
