DTro
Caught a bunch of catfish on the MN Rig tonight. Hopefully I will get some time to put a video together tomorrow. It actually worked better than I thought, except for the fact we were in 40ft of water and catching fish as quick as we dropped down. Using a spinning reel with mono was a little easier on the arms. buzbunni
That's cool. Fun to see those cats fighting over the bait. Loved the crappies.Need to get my cat fix on soon.
jmillsp
Very cool and ingenious! I have been thinking about where to put my display or how to mount it somewhere so I am not looking down all the time. Seems a part of ice fishing, looking down all the time. Hard on a guy with a cervical fusion. Was thinking of those snake type mounts but haven't decided. Sure never thought about putting it on a rod. I probably won't do that but it is a great idea. I would think there would be a shortened life expectancy for the cable. I am not sure how you have that on your reel spool to make it all work. Having a hard time envisioning that. I was also thinking they make inexpensive handle bar type mounts. I think 5.00 or so that could be placed onto a rod.

Look at the video at around time 1:20, and you'll see that the line is just being pulled in instead of reeled in. The reel is good for storing the line when you're transporting it, however. DTro
Killed a couple hours today having some more fun with this. Works pretty good on Sunnies. You sure can learn a lot by watching what happens under water real time. A few things I discovered were that you can really get their attention "ground pounding", you really need to let them suck it in entirely before trying to set the hook, and lastly there can be a lot of fishing hugging the bottom that never show up on your flasher. bbfenatic
Great work Dtro! Interesting to see all the other little bugs they were feeding on and how "big" the presentation looked even though it would be pretty small by our standards...thanks for sharing.
