Canvas Craft

I have had a Canvas craft insulated portable for I believe 6 years now. This portable has been nothing short of awesome and the quality is second to none.

The insulated fabric helps keep the inside so much warmer and with the light white color inside, lighting up the inside of the portable is as the heating, so much easier.

At times I do pull the house with the tent up and it is a bit hard on the poles that are out front due to the bottom pole bucking a drift or two.

I bent one side a bit and it still works but binds a smaller amount when I put it up and down.

A simple call to Canvas Craft in Roger's and Dottie took care of me and the poles will be to my house tomorrow, 1 day service.

I love it when a company build's a very good product and then stands behind it with fantastic customer service.

Kudo's to Matt, the owner and Dottie who handles alot of customer's issue.

If you are ever in need of a quality portable for your ice fishing, Canvas Craft has a great line up of fishing and spearing houses, I would at a minimum, check out thier lineup of houses before you make a purchase.

Castmaster, at least take a look at them. They use the Norpac insulation and it is very warm, durable and easy to light up the house. The black skin on the outside also helps draw in some heat from the sunshine.

On days like 15 degree's, I do not even use my heater as it is warm enough inside.

Hard for me to even use my Mr heater-Cooker as they do not have a setting low enough as it gets to warm in the house. My Buddy heater get's the job done just fine and I do not have the larger Mr Buddy, just the small one.

As far as the poles, they slide as well as anyone's on the market.

If you did decide to go the Canvas Craft route, you would not be disappointed.

I do not know the current pricing but like all insulated portables, they run more than the uninsulated type.

One is going to pay all depending on the quality of the house of course.

If you are close to thier warehouses, picking it up could also save one some hard earned cash.

Thanks Harvey, but I already own an insulated CC house.

I think the recovery is from the last canvas craft posting where shots were fired from all directions. It was a few pages about a guy just asking where he could see one in person and scope it out.

Best shacks on the market IMO, I'm on my 2nd one, sold the large just because it wouldn't fit in a standard truck bed and went with the Magnum.

I can tell you one thing, all my buddies that fish together with all kinds of different shacks either bought a CC or want to get a CC for there next porty after fishing with me and checking mine out.

You can also have 3 different seating options, If you get the center bar seating you can get the Sportsman Caddy. I had the normal seating in the Large and when I went with the Magnum I decided to go with the center bar just for the Caddy lol.

The Otter sleds with the NorpacR2 Canvas can't be beat. If your hardcore and pull your porty with snowmobiles or wheelers out on big lakes it's what you want.

I have had a CC insulated suitcase style for 2 years now and I love it! As Harvey said, it takes next to nothing to heat it, even in below zero. I use a Portable Buddy and I only use the high setting when I first set up; after that it goes back to low and I have the door unzipped about 8". What I really wish I had known about is that I could have had it customized. I would have paid the extra to have a second door put in so that there would be a door at both ends. I can still do it, but I would have to take the fabric off the base and bring it in.

To save a few bucks, I built the base and attached the fabric to the base myself. The big advantage to that was that I could paint the entire base without working around the poles and fabric (their completely built house comes with the base unpainted). When I was looking at their houses, they had 3 or 4 different types set up in Rogers.

Fishin, I tested those Caddy's for Otter before they came on the market, one of the best items Otter has put out for an assc. I have my bettery for my lights for the portable all run to a toggle switch and the wires in the poles. Guy can store alot of items in the caddy and the top tray is nice for jig's a can of pop or beer and still room for more
