It's not a popular opinion, but NASCAR does not retire numbers. RCR owns the rights to the #3. They have to pay for it every year. Eventually either they were going to field it, or someone else was. The #3 was Richard Childress's number furring his short career. Makes sence that his grand kids would want to run it.

If Dale could talk, he would tell everyone to get over it and move on. Put the 3back in the line up.

I totally agree with RCR to field that number. I will say I would not want to be the driver who has to drive it with the 3 as some will think tha car will need to do as well as Dale did with it.

Also agree Sr would want the number used by Richard, just my guess of course.

Interesting. I've never heard about Richard Petty's rodeo career. After all, he must have had one if he wears a cowboy hat, right?
