Vitreus
Had some issues with the trusty old VX-1P today. Worked fine in the morning, then started it up tonight and got a lot of beeping, sometimes no display, and then a good old Christmas tree all around the ring with no definitive bottom showing up, ruling out any kind of interference. Any chance this is battery related? I left the battery connected all summer, so I'm hoping that's what it is... But I have the feeling it's worse. TyGuy02
that happened to me and I had to send it in. Relatively cheap fix but it had to do with a fancy electronic part, I can't think of the part's name right now. That was 2 years ago and it happened again this fall while on the boat. Agronomist_at_IA
Sounds like a bad battery to me Same here I'd try a battery to see if it fixes it before I would send it in.
mww24
Id venture to guess its a battery issue as well. Sometimes the battery will bulge out and it wont be perfectly flat anymore. That is for sure sign of a junk battery. It will almost look like it wants to explode. Try a buddies known good battery to see if it fixes. Then I would see about trying a known good transducer. See if that fixes it. Only after those two troubleshoots would I send it in or take somewhere. If you dont have access to those I would just go to a busy lake and find someone with one. Offer them a beer or a few bucks to do the swaps. Id help you if you approached me. And im sure a lot of others will to. Good luck.
Vitreus
Thanks for the advice. I'll check out the battery issue first. Looks like marcum has a flat rate of $80 to fix anything, so not too bad.
wally diver 2
I had a similar problem last year with mine had to bring it in. They fixed it within a half hour. Didn't charge me anything. I never sent in the warranty card. They said basically if it looks like its been taken care of they will take care of it.
Vitreus
Where did you take it in?
wally diver 2
I brought it to marcum technologies in Minneapolis. Their phone number is on their HSOforum and their address.
