Use tape to make gun white or paint??

Just bought a 223. for varmint hunting . Would you paint it or use that tape stuff to make it white?? thanks

I have used veterinarian tape usually used for horses it clings good has no sticky residue and is fairly cheap. I bought it at fleet farm but would guess any farm store would carry it.

Just remember if your gun is not stainless to make sure you try and dry the tape out if it gets wet or it's going to cause rust under it.

It'll either rust, or leave a nice sticky residue. Even the stuff that says "No sticky residue" leaves sticky residue. Speaking from experience.

There is non-stick tape similar to the vet wrap at cabelas, in a variety of colors that you can put on/off to give the gun a good oiling every now and then. If vet wrap comes in white, then you'll save yourself $19.00 as i believe the kit at cabelas is close to $20, and vet wrap is $1.

I used the Mcnett gun wrap last year and it worked great. Easy on and off and reusable.

Depends- if you'd like to keep the gun white, than paint it and you won't have to worry about rust and messing with wrap every year.

Personally, I think a white gun in the cabinet makes it interesting

Here's a gun I painted a few years ago. Here's How:

1. Sanded the finish off (doesn't have to be perfect, just make sure the finish is roughed up.

2. Cleaned the stock with alcohol

3. Sprayed with white krylon spray paint- found at any hardware store.

4. used krylon webbing paint- make sure to practice on a different surface first as it can be tricky.
