coombia21
I have an otter lodge and I am getting tired of having to wear a headlamp in the house at night and not having enough light. What is the best permanent solution to this? I have used rope lights and they do not give off enough light to fish effectively after dark. What is the best set of lights that you can mount in a portable house?
slurpie
I would also be interested I am running rope lights they give some light but not quite enough. My old lantern sure works good but sucks worrying about mantels.
castmaster
Try to find some LED reverse lights for a Semi. I run a pair of those on the overhead bar for my main lights, and then run a strip of the FireBrite Led's sold on this site on the front and rear overhead support poles. Will try and get some pics later today
Northlander
Check out FireBrite_LEDs. They have some nice led lights with some great smalll batteries that run the lights a long time and way about 1/8th what a standard Marcum type battery does. Lusid
Teaser pic! But I'll have another gigantic light above my head. Feet Lighting (30 lumens per bar) Upper Lighting (400+lumens)
brian6715
I got some LED strip lights at an auto zone place, and they have been really good to me. I am going on year 3, I want to say they are 18 inches long and came in a 2 pack for $30 (they had a pack for cheaper, but these were way brighter, you could test them right in the store). They are flexible and have sticky tape on the back, I taped them to the top middle rail on my otter, facing down. I was initially worried about the tape coming off, so I used electrical tape to add a little reinforcement and I regret doing that, as the adhesive that came with the lights is incredibly strong and I don't think I could get them off if I tried! I drilled holes in the rail to run the wire in, and ran the wire down the whole way through the rail. It is completely self contained, there are no plastic lights hanging out to get broken off. It works really well.
holmsvc
I have one set of the FireBrite LED's in my otter lodge and they are more than enough light in the house.
TruthWalleyes
I used the firebright christmas style ran by 3AA batteries for about 3 winters. They worked great, and i honestly think i changed batteries once at the beginning of each season and never had to again throughout the year. They just flat out wore out from my constant abuse. Several of the lights didn't work last year, but it still got me through. I probably spent close to 10 nights with them last year in my porty + countless hours fishing into the dark. The fact that they worked that long through my abuse is impressive for the price. String them on the hub house walls where you want them and it's plenty of light. I haven't replaced them yet, but have been looking for what will be next. The firebright strips look good. May give them a try. For now i'm just using my headlight or the clam fan/light. Chad Holst
If you go to that big auction site, you will be able to find 5050 LED string lights. They come with an adhesive backing. stick them to your cross pole and down the front/back poles and you will not need anything else. Zip tie them to the poles after sticking them on, to help secure them. On the end put a quick connect the size of your flasher quick connectes. get a double male end for your flasher battery. These lights will last for ever on a flasher battery and will light it up like the forth of July. 16' will cost you a whole $15! They can be cut to size every 3rd light. to make smaller sections. Im talking BRITE. the 3 meter length (16 feet approx) has 300 LEDS.
20lbSloughShark
I have always just used those cheap indoor/outdoor lights and put a wire loop through them.
bassinboy3
I looking at putting new lights in my nanook for when I am actually sitting in the house and from what I can see the FireBrite are the best option but they appear to be sold out, is there any other place to get them?
