Otter XT series

Who has used one of these new models? They sure look and feel nice at the store. I'm actually picking one up tonight in Cloquet (XT650), sold the clam nanook thermal since it was just too small, the sled sucks and the poles like to rust out after a year or two of use (yes I oiled them throughout the year).

I was on the fence about going full thermal again or just the thermal top. With the dual layer denier fabric and the thermal top I think it will outperform the nanook easily.

I'm really looking forward to getting this Otter, but does anyone have or heard of anything bad to report on these?

Thanks

i have the blue camo xt900 and it is the cadillac of ice shanty's. you will be nothing but happy with it. have has it for 3 seasons this year and it has held up like new. no issues at all. never lubed the poles either and slide with ease. my fishing partner has the black camo with just the thermal top and he loves his as well. the full thermal is nice can heat it up fast and most times have to shut off the buddy heater running on low after 35-45 min or you are opening door to cool off.

I picked up an XT1200 about a month ago, and have it put together and installed a few mods to meet my needs. They are a piece of cake to put together and it did not take much time at all. I have a heated garage, so I put it together and left it set up for a week or so to sort of stretch out. My initial impressions are it is going to be a great house. Can't wait to get out and run it through its paces.

Went from an old Eskimo 1 man flip over to the Otter Cabin (roof thermal) last year (got a screaming deal from a buddy who is an "up there" at Otter) picked it up factory direct, completely assembled. The only things I have added are lights, hyfax, mounted a battery and a 12 volt cigar socket for charging a phone. LOVE this unit and have hooked up a buddy or two with Otters also and now get the best tips from them on when and where they are biting!

I have been running a Otter Cabin 1200 this season and its even better than last years 900 serie that was fantastic. I was out the other day in 14 below with a lil buddy heater and was toasty as could be. No dripping, no wind flapping and bullet proof. You wont be disappointed in either the 950 or 1200 series.

I have an Otter Resort XT 1200 and compared with an uninsulated 3 man clam that I fished in a few year back there is no comparison. And I sure like the fast setup versus the 2 bigfoot models by clam I had last season. My first time out was this weekend and I was pulling a 10 mile round trip on LOW. 2 miles across the swamp and another 8 across the ice and I had no issues of my gear moving around. My buddy just picked up a carry over T600 Lodge so we will run them through the paces this weekend and over the Christmas holiday.
