Winter maintenance on AMS bowfish reels?

shot my last 7 carp of the year yesterday- I'm done!

wondering if any of you guys have some good winter storage/maintenance tips for AMS reels

there's nothing on the AMS site or in the instructions about maintenance

I find it amazing how trouble-free my Pro unit has been since I bought it in May- it's incredible that none of the components have been goobered up with debris and made to malfunction

I took the bottle off and cleaned it out and soaked the line in freshwater to clean it

how do you guys store your line over the winter? back in the bottle or do you wind it up on a spool?

also, has anyone ever taken the reel apart and cleaned it? I just don't want to start taking things apart only to find springs and clips flying all over and then not getting everything back together OK

thanks in advance for any help!

Wow... And I thought I was bad, your way overthinking it.

Step 1 cut line to arrow.

Step 2 remove ams retriever from bow

Step 3 toss in bin or on shelf

Step 4 forget

I've been running retrievers on several bows for years. When the season ends they get tossed on the shelf like a carp in the garden. In the spring they get dug out rinsed off with a garden hose if time permits, then back in the bow.

If they can stand up to the use and abuse of ridding in the bed of a pickup, tossed on the bank, dropped in the river, or bounced around in the boat, I don't think winter can hurt em.

Totally maintenance free! I guess u can give them a spit shine if it makes you feel better.

AMS is coming out with a tournament series reel for 2014. It has faster retrieve gears and a longer handle to crank it in. They are also introducing a new line of points. Check them out or feel free to PM me with any questions.

Set n forget... Then next year hopefully you have still forgotten and you can go out and buy yourself a reel seat and a spin cast and really do work! Retrievers...... Ha.

On a serious not, good luck get after em next year!
