Buying Mucks

Recommended Posts

I am wanting to buy some Mucks for my soon to be husband. Starting to do research on buying them just to find out their is a bigger variety than I knew about. He would use these mainly for pheasant but I could also see him using them for duck hunting (maybe), he does use waders. I'm debating between the Muck Men's Wetland 16" Premium Field Boots and the Muck Woody Sport. What are your opinions and suggestions? Would you suggest a different ones?

Haven't found anyone disappointed with Muck boots. I purchased my first pair this year and so far am quite happy with them. I got the Muck™ Pursuit Supreme Rubber Boots mostly because they look more durable. My feet are so big that even in the biggest size (15) i still need to take out the cushion liner in the boot. I still find them to be quite comfortable.

I just bought the Muck Arctic Pro's a couple weeks ago and I'm very happy with them. They are too warm for most pheasant hunting but I think either of the ones you are thinking of getting would be a good choice and he will be happy with them.

I just got the muck woody max for deer hunting and ice fishing. Rated for -40 and the artic pro for -60. They were out of the artic pro so I got the woody max. Every review I read is excellent. He will like your purchase regardless what kind you get.

My Muck boots are at least 8 to 10 years old. Before they had all the different models. I wear them pheasant and deer hunting and for launching the boat in the garden etc. The are still not leaking. The only suggestion I have is that you get a size that allows a nice moisture wicking wool sock to be worn. They are rubber and neoprene and do not breathe at all so you may suffer from cold feet from sweating if you do not have wicking socks. Otherwise they have been a great investment and will replace when they wear out.

Same here mwal and agree about the socks. What a lucky future hubby this gal has! I bought a pair of their 12" chore boots about 8-10 years ago. I do chores twice a day and wear them anytime I'm outdoors this time of year, cutting trees, harvesting garden, cleaning barn, etc. Have beat the living snot out of them and they're still going strong. They're not cheap but used to blow through cheaper boots every couple years. Looking at their HSOforum they have a wide selection of products to choose from now that aren't available locally. Whatever you decide, should be a good choice. The worst thing that can happen is that if he doesn't like them, he can return them and get something he does like.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I'm not totally decided but leaning towards the sport, I've read some reviews saying the tread on the bottom is a lot better. I'm sure I will be back in a couple weeks needing opinions on duck blinds, (Christmas is just around the corner)it would look pretty great under the tree.

I bought the Arctic Pro Extreme's a few years ago and use them all the time for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling etc. My feet have never been cold and they don't get too warm hunting either. In fact last year when the river was low I used them for walking the banks and the narrow crossings in July and August and was impressed with how well they performed.
