Esox_Magnum
Mine when I got it, still need wheels on it upgrading to 14's, also added an auger rack on front...
Hobey
I would be concerned that it is solid. The top half of the ATV is moving with the suspension, but with the support bars connected before the suspension, there is no give. This would put more pressure on your ATV's rear rack as well as the back rack. All of these pictures are really making me anxious to get mine back from getting a wrap put on and put back together. I can't wait to post some pictures! It's no different than weight being on the original rack. You have to drill four holes through the extended rack and the original rack. Then the two racks are bolted together in four different places. Then the two rods go down toward the hitch area to help support the weight. There might be issues if you put a ton of weight on it, but I don't think you could get more than 200 pounds of ice fishing gear on it. It doesn't affect the rear shocks if that's what you're thinking about.
LakeDocktor
Thanks Hobey! That is what I was thinking. The supports connected, essentially, to the frame, would not allow the suspension to operate as designed. I would have thought it allow for the racks to travel with the suspension, but the supports would hinder the suspension.

LakeDocktor
Sorry for the poor picture quality. I'm still putting a few things together. There will be another fish house rack off the front.

hamms-scooter
I picked up a Honda 200s atc 1985. It is in awesome shape. New tires, carb, plastic. All original stuff came with it as well was just faded.I am looking for a rear rack for it, it already has a hitch. Paid 500 for it. Will be great for in the woods dragging my deer. Will probably get chains for rear tires. You guys have some nice machines! I was going to get another 4 wheeler but I wanted ultra light weight and it is just plain fun to have. I would have thought it allow for the racks to travel with the suspension, but the supports would hinder the suspension. I took a second look at it this morning and the supports do not let the rear suspension work. There is about an inch or two of play if you press down on the rack. This is my first year with this so hopefully it works.
LakeDocktor
I didn't think it would allow the suspension to work properly. My concern would be the added stress to the rack on the rear on the wheeler. There needs to be give somewhere and hopefully it doesn't mess things up during a rough ride. Esox_Magnum
With IRS it could be done, I think it would work on my Polaris without bothering the suspension....
CaptainMusky
Yeah those additional supports would mount to a frame support on an IRS ATV which would allow full suspension articulation still.

There needs to be give somewhere and hopefully it doesn't mess things up during a rough ride. The rack comes in two parts and is connected by two bolts that are not tightened all the way. There is some play within the bolts. I emailed the owner about this to see what he says. I'm not sure if a different suspension would work or not. The support rods are connected to a plate that mounts to where the hitch is.

Right, so on a solid axle ATV the hitch mount is on the axle right? By mounting it like this it will lock out the rear suspension from working since the shock is attached to the axle.On an IRS machine it would have to mount to the frame or hitch which would still allow rear suspension to fully work. Hobey
You're right. I don't think it's going to work. I might have to get a drop basket rack which is fine since I still will be able to mount the floats and have room for three buckets. I only use a shack about 5% of the time because I like to be ultra mobile.

CaptainMusky
what are you all using for ram mounts to mount your hds units? There is a RAM handlebar mount that clamps right to the tube of the handlebar on my ATV. Works great. Its basically a ram ball mount with a "U" bolt.
