JP Z
Thanks. Yeah I love smoked Turkey legs, never actually smoked them myself though. They are now added to my ever growing list.
BLACKJACK
eyeguy, where do you pick up your turkey legs in bulk?? I've always wanted to try turkey legs, gotta have one when I see them at the fair, but didn't want to buy enough whole turkeys to do a batch... delcecchi
You could buy whole turkeys, make "turkey to go" out of the breast, and smoke the wings, neck, and drumsticks. The thighs you could smoke or eat or grind and make sausage. That "turkey to go" sandwich at the Fair is great. And there are some clone recipes on internet. http://minnesotaturkey.com/turkeytogo/And since I am a good guy....Turkey to Go "My attempt to duplicate a MN State Fair favorite; after attempting to contact the MN Turkey Grower's Association with no luck in obtaining the secret recipe. From what I understand, the state fair turkey is deep fried -- this version is crockpot cooked and very easy."Ingredients 1 Butterball boneless breast of turkey 4 ounces chicken broth 1/4 cup butter 1 tablespoon Mrs. Dash garlic and herb seasoning 1 teaspoon onion powder 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder bun ( either bakery hamburger style or BBQ bun style)Directions Remove string from turkey breast (thawed, if you bought a frozen one). Place in crockpot. Add broth, seasonings and butter. Place a sheet of foil over breast meat to cover. Cover with crockpot lid. Cook on low 6-8 hours. Remove breast meat from crockpot, reserve liquid. Shred meat with forks. Place back in crockpot - add enough of the reserved liquid to moisten. Serve on buns. You may garnish with BBQ sauce - but I personally like it just as it is.(I'm pretty sure this is the recipe I used.)
eyeguy 54
I ordered a box at cashwise from the meat dept. smaller legs not the monsters. BLACKJACK
You could buy whole turkeys, make "turkey to go" out of the breast, and smoke the wings, neck, and drumsticks. The thighs you could smoke or eat or grind and make sausage. Thought about buying several turkeys and parting them out. Would NOT grind the thighs, probably the best cut on the bird. Might have to try your 'turkey to go' recipe', looks pretty easy - and good.
delcecchi
Not mine, from internet. Is good though. I like thighs too. Put them on smoker with legs would be good.
