What Polaris Snowmobile for Ice Fishing and taking my wife trail riding?

Ok guys I have narrowed it down to Polaris. Im wondering what sled would you recomend for ice fishing and 2 person trail riding. A 2up is pretty much a must. Air or liquid and why.

How much weight are you going to be with a rider? How .such weight are you pulling? I would guess a fan cooled sled isn't going to have enough umph to get you out of sticky situations. A four stroke is going to have torque to carry the weight a turbo will get you going if you have the need for speed. The new chassis is going to ride really well and be adjusted pretty easy with a few clicks. Hope this helps.

I have two liquid Polaris,but they are both older - 88 (400, 4500 miles) and 02 (500, 2200 miles). No probs with either, other than the hi/lo switch on the 02, and that was a $70 part that was easy fix, once I knew what it was

Bigger question is you getting new or used? and how used if used?

I have a 95 Polaris XLT Touring now but looking at a new sled. My plan is to sell the XLT and get something newer, lighter and more comfortable. Anyone have a new 2up touring sled? Whats your opinion of the newer 2 ups?

Northlander, for as much as you fish the only sled i would reccomend for you is the Widetrak LX in the IQ chassis. It's a little heavier machine but handles perfectly, has good floatation, alot of storage and plenty of power and traction for towing.

That IQ will run you 12K plus, just an FYI. I would go and sit on a new(er) polaris two up and see how it fits you. I've got a 2010 arctic cat T570 (got it one year old with 343 miles on it, and paid 6k) and like it. It has a fantastic suspension. Sonju up in 2 harbors usually has quite a few Polaris's onsite. Give them a call and see what they have. I'm not a fan of Lawn and Sport but they carry Polaris too.

Lawn and sports had 12 demo there last winter. I almost bought it but decided to save a couple grand. Had all the goodies for 2 and storage. Maybe its still there.

I have a 2003 Polaris 700 Edge-X that's a good trail riding sled and has good power, but not really two up unless you're pretty small folks.

Just saw the pm. Understand. You are looking at the Trail 550 2up or the aforementioned Widetrack 600. The Trail stickers for about 8k with a cover, hitch and 12v outlet. The 600 comes in about 12k. Sent ya a pm with a couple to look at.
