Will
With the regulation change regarding open water hunting on a few lakes, I'm wondering if I can fish and hunt at the same time? The only info in the regs is, you have to be anchored while hunting open water. I couldn't find anything about hunting/fishing at the same time. I made a few phone calls and was told to contact a C.O. I left three messages for three C.O.s but no return calls. Anybody know anything about this? Thanks
bemidjibasser
It would be kind of cool to have a big sucker minnow under a decoy...
BoxMN
We've done that before, but not open water. Just some reeds next to deeper water. I shot bluebills while my brother was fighting northern at the same time! Not big fish, and only had it happen once at same time, but we were laughing and having a fun time!! nobody05
i've done this once one the end of my familys cabin dock. I was at the end with a fishing pole and a shotgun. And a goose decided to fly by. Ousted him. I was more worried about it flying back onto shore and flying through somebodys window in their cabins so I havent done it since lol. CANOPY SAM
I love the idea of using a duck decoy as a bobber! A big sucker minnow would sure add some nice action/movement to the spread! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!
bemidjibasser
Especially on one of the lakes where you can now hunt "layout style"...
Gordie
I believe you will have no problems with fishing at the same time your hunting as long as your anchored for hunting and only have three minnows in the minnow bucket.
monstermoose78
There is one problem with this! I have done it the fish bite and then the ducks will come in or the ducks will be circling and you will get a bite. I used to fish on my dad's pond while duck hunting that is how it worked for me. Old Dewjabber
I believe you will have no problems with fishing at the same time your hunting as long as your anchored for hunting and only have three minnows in the minnow bucket. Don't understand the 3 minnows.. But if you are using a duck boat for any thing other than hunting it needs to be licensed, and have lights in the dark! magnum mike
You still have to have the boat partially concealed in the weeds to be legal for hunting.
Will
I'll have to call the DNR on that. It doesn't say that in the regs.
dan z
You'll have to be in a licensed boat and within 100' of shore if your in your layout boat.
