Deer Regulation ?

Recommended Posts

I wonder if a guy has an email to defend misinformation causing one to break a rule if that would help...doubt it! Lol

It might if you take it to court.

If the DNR tells you something that is wrong and you get a ticket because of it then its best to have proof of what you were told. It may or may not help but its worth having.

At least maybe the DNR would learn a lesson and crack down on uninformed people from commenting on regulation questions.

The only thing I think you can't tag a doe with a bow license during gun season in lottery area but I could be wrong. I emailed CO again, I'm curious now.

That's not stated anywhere that I know of. The dates don't matter, as long as it's during the Archery season with an archery license.

Here's the entire rule from the book: All archery hunters can take an either-sex deer in the lottery deer areas

I got a reply back on archery hunting info...

Hey Jayson,

Your archery license is good for a deer of either sex so you would be able to tag an antlerless deer with your archery license in a lottery zone.

You could use your archery license during the firearm season in a lottery zone and harvest and tag an antlerless deer.  But remember if the firearms deer season is going on you are required to wear blaze orange, you cannot possess a rifle in the stand while you are archery hunting even if you have a legal firearms license (cannot bow hunt and rifle hunt at the same time..just one or the other),  and you could only party hunt with someone that is archery hunting with an archery license.  (In order to party hunt you must be using same type of weapon/license  IE…bow with bow,  rifle with rifle.

The only other twist to this if you were hunting in that 3b zone where they have antler point restrictions and a couple of park hunts where there are restrictions.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

It all depends on who you talk/email to. I know firsthand that the people at the Dnr information center are potentially unqualified to give legal advice. I found this out in a court case of my own. It won't hold up in court. I know send emails to the Dnr enforcement division director.

ALWAYS print out what ever question to the DNR when you receive a answer. If you are misinformed and go by that misinformation They will be responcible.Document, document, document, and ask the question at least twice!! Many times I have asked a question from different DNR areas and received different opposing answers. The main DNR in the web site in the cities is what I print out. They, right or wrong should be held responcible for competence or incompetence!!
