I was probably going 1-2 mph. I have a conversation going with Lowrance. They asked me to do a hard reset and try it again, not changing anything from default except switch to Shallow Water mode. I'll try it next time Im out.

I suspect its a combination of the target, what the unit does when it detects a target, and the lake (Mille lacs) being full of green stuff.

Maybe when the unit detects a target it cranks up the sensitivity (real time or just in the data set) just between the transducer and the target, so as not to loose it, or so it could track it and label it with fish ID if fish ID were turned on.

If the water is full of green stuff when this happens, the green stuff returns weak marks, the blue streaks.

Ill have to look at things more closely next time I see it, and see what else Lowrance can tell me.

Thanks.

On a more serious note, I did ask, basically, the same question a while back and got some good theories.

The fact that I also have a Lowrance is a coincidence. I have seen it with my last depth finer, a Garmin, and my buddies boat, a Humminbird.
