WalleyeVision
Let us know how you like that new propane model this winter. I don't think you can go wrong with that or any of the new Lithium Ion battery augers. I've had the Gator for 2 years and it is awesome for inside my fish house, never any smell and starting it consists of pressing the forward or reverse button. JeremyCampbell
Let's say I was drilling 50 holes or so a week with a 10",do you think the propane auger would be a more productive way or a gas auger? Does it even make a difference at all in that way?

Does it even make a difference at all in that way? if you drill that many holes I would go gas over propane. the propane auger is heavier then the gas models. jiffy's have always been on the heavy side. for a gas auger I would look at the new Clam auger that is coming out this year. Brad B
A clam auger? Lol... And what is wrong with the proven Solo motor they use on these. they will be good augers and should give strike master the competition they need. yes I have issues with strike master since they were bought by Rapala. they are not the same company that I use to know and because of that I plan to take my business else where and that is why I will be going with a Clam Auger.here check this out and educate your self before you think they are a joke.http://catalog.clamoutdoors.com/index.php?level=picture&id=
ClownColor
So wait, everyone was sooooo strikemaster loyal, now since clam has one everyone's jumping ship? If that motors been so good, why u even dealing with sm customer service? And trust me, I've dealt with clams customer service, as with many many people, let's face it, they don't have good quality control. And with a new item, I'd never recommend it to anyone until it proves itself. But I get it....pro staff. Not saying it doesn't have a chance to be good, clam just doesn't have a good rep on quality and the average Joe should sit this one out until next year. Also looks like it has those plastic handles that SM has made so much money off of...smart, for clam. JSK76
Isn't the Clam Edge just a rebadged Strikemaster lazer mag? The only difference I can possible see is the gear case on the clam is cast aluminum. I know my Magnum is plastic but its possible the lazer Mag is cast aluminum too. Either way your not getting anything new with the Edge just a new color so if you want a blue one rather then red your not going to run into first year out issues. grundy
I have been running an 8" IceGator for the last 4 years in my Ice Castle. Still using the same batteries that came with it. I use a 8" Strikemaster lazer drill on it and it makes short work of drilling holes.

Does it even make a difference at all in that way? 50 a week? I had to reread that...so many guys here talking about drilling 50 or more holes a DAY! I've had a pro4 jiffy since they came out and and when I'm fishing hard I drill 50 plus a week easily, with no issues at all. Yes, it's kinda heavy, but I'd need to be drilling a LOT more holes than I do for it to be an issue, and even then it would be strictly a mobility issue due to weight, not a drilling issue. bassNspear
talking with the Jiffy guys today on there augers. Here is come good information to take with youThe new jiffy propane is 18% lighter. Has a bit smaller motor on it, which relates that you can only get it in a 6 or 8 inch. So if you are the guy that is looking for a 9 or 10, you have to go to the Pro 4 like i just bought. The new 8 inch propane is lighter but yet looks close to the Pro 4. The rep told me he can cut 230 holes with 15 inches of ice on one tank of propane.Super excited for my new 10 to get here....where is the ice?
