Rubber Boots for Early Season Bowhunting

I have some LaCrosse Alphalites and really like them. But I use them for everything, ice fishing, rifle hunting, some duck hunting, bow hunting (I am new to this though...) and even cutting grass when poison ivy is out wink

I used to chuckle at the rubber boot "craze" now I am crazed one and love them! They do make feet sweat if heavy walking, and don't EVER put them on without socks - near impossible to get them off!

I don't remember the model of my Lacrosse boots that I'm using now but I do like them. They are un-insulated and have the removable gaiter snapped into the top. They're in camo.

The other rubber boots I've used are the Cabela's brand with the removable felt liners and drawstring gaiters. More designed for trappers I think. They're more comfortable for sure but too warm for early season temps. They're black.

I switch back and forth depending on temps.

WHile I agree that any rubber boot is better than none I will say that quality comes with a price.

I spent two years buying the $35-40 boots that went on sale right before the season and they didn't last more than a year. I use them for bow hunting and spring turkey hunting to keep my feet dry and the cheap boots always wore out at the stress point where your foot bends.

Now I have the Cabelas rubber boots and I love them. They have the nice hiking sole, removeable insoles and a solid body. I've had them almost 5 years and they are still doing great and still waterproof. I can hike all day in them without a problem. They were $100 but totally worth it considering I'd wasted $70-80 the previous two years. Get quality and it will save you money.

Agree to what Powerstroke said about getting what you pay for.

I used to do the same with the cheapo's every year then last year I bought some Muck Field Blazers and they are a great boot!

In fact the wife bought a set too and she likes them also.

Water proof and very comfortable. As far as socks go, most of the year I get by with a pair of ultra thin moisture wicking "Starter" brand socks.

I wear them most of the year, December required my other boots.
