55" caught by a kid from my home town.

How many people here could knowingly catch a State record and release it, knowing it wouldn't count? That would be an incredible accomplishment! I don't know if I would have it in me to release it. Just curious what other's thought are, and how many people can honestly say they would release a State record. I know there are people out there that have likely caught and released them!

I don't think I'd keep it but that is something that is tough to say until you are in the position. There has been several records caught and released in recent years with pics of the measurements to prove it.

Wisconsin is going to add live release records to their record book next year. Minnesota should probably follow suit.

It's a tough call, as I rarely ever keep fish. But take into affect, if the fish is a record, it's most likely very near the end of it's life cycle, and beyond it's prime for reproducting offspring. So I say it's harmless.

I'm with you Mr. Klean, yippy skippy on record book fish. When I was a child it intrigued me some back in the 70's, I grew out of that phase pretty quickly, same with deer 27 bucks down, didn't know that number except my kid counted the pictures of them last night, it's a memory picture book more than anything, I've never had 1 scored. One little comment on muskies is I don't understand when I like see outdoor news pictures of muskies C&R from MN waters that are under 48", why do they put C&R when anything under 48" must be released anyway, I don't get that. If it's 48" plus I get that lol.
