HA! I was doing a little searching myself and came across that the other day.

I was thinking to myself, if they follow the book is it really going to take 5 min?? LOL

Its out of control....

Well, the first page says "April, 2011 draft". In the 2+ years since then, I'd like to know what has changed. For example, I've been checked half a dozen times at the most, but I've never seen an inspector use a flashlight or a mirror. Hasn't ruined my fishing experience yet.

I've never seen a magnifying glass, flashlight or mirror. Usually it goes like this

"do you have a livewell"

"yes, do you want to check it?"

"No"

"do you want to wash down my boat?"

"I don't want to do it"

I guess I'm glad they're not doing the full cavity search because it would slow down the ramps to a crawl, but geez how much taxpayer money was spent on all this....

Sounds familiar.

This year was the first time that I have seen the PDA's where they record the answers real time.

We (my family) are very private and guard our information. Because of it we do not receive random telemarketer phone calls and very little junk mail. And we want to keep it that way.

Given that, I was surprised at the database that they are creating with these checks. The checks will allow them to assemble boating habits and frequency for those that trailer their boats.

From that DB they can correlate fishing preferences, species targeted, time of day, miles driven to target, and probably a lot more. This would be valued information to many and we are freely giving it to the state under the guise of AIS.
