I am headed to walker from Grand Rapids. Will catch the trail from the cass lake bena area to walker. I heard that part of the trail is closed. Has anyone gone that route lately?

I was on it last weekend and there was a sign by cass lake that said trail closed, but it was groomed and i met a co on it who said nothing about it being closed. I dont know why that sign was there cause it was open
