hitthebricks
How hard is it to replace struts? I'm fairly adept and mechanically inclined but have never done this, is this something I should even try?HTB
Jeremy airjer W
Year, make, model?on most vehicles you can pull the stut assembly yourself. The hard part is usually the strut to knuckle bolts. If this is a taurus don't do it!Once the strut assembly is removed you will need to bring them to your local garage/machine shop and have the springs compressed in order to remove the old struts and install the new ones. Always have the alignment checked after installing new struts. They do make a product called a quick strut for many models. This will be an entire strut assembly that is bolted in with no disassembly or assembly required.

Scott K
They are fairly easy to do. Much easier with power tools. They should make "ready struts" for your car.
ChuckN
This sparks my interest...how are 2002 Dodge Caravan struts to replace? I was just asked to help a friend and I haven't seen it yet.I've replaced Honda and Toyota struts with ease.
Macgyver55
Those are pretty easy and straight forward Chuck. The upper 3 bolts can be a pain if your hands are large or inflexible, and the stabilizer bolt can sometimes be rusted tight but aside from that they are pretty simple.
