No Heat Impala Defroster

I have a 2006 Impala that will not blow any warm air through the defroster during warm up/idling. It will send out hot air while moving. The temperature gauge shows the engine is heating properly. Thoughts

this happened to me and it was a water pump problem. At idle, the pump wasn't pushing coolant into the heater core very well. When the RPMs go up, the pump would push coolant better and I'd get hot air.

Could be an actuator too. Did it start all of a sudden?

check the coolant level to start.

If the coolant is muddy looking than its possible that the heater core is starting to plug up. at higher rpms you get more flow. whatever is not plugged will be able to transfer enough heat. If this is the case eventually it will plug up completely. Typically backflushing the heater core will help or even resolve. occasionally they are just to plugged up and have to be replaced.

I had the same problem with my 07 Impala. I needed to add coolant.

Just had that happen to my kids 07 impala. Water pump.

After looking back at my receipts, shortly after adding more coolant I replaced the water pump. Seems to be the common solution.
