IceHawk11
I have an ice castle 8x16 throphy hunter. It has an 18000 btu heater. Anybody else have a problem with it heating up? My furnace runs constantly. Even if I have it bank well. Thinking of putting in a bigger heater. Anybody done this? If so how big and what brand? Thank in advance for any help.. rustysetter
Is the propane flowing as it should? the newer style can be a pain if you don't follow the correct sequence. The OFD senses a leak.
WARRIOR 2090
my 8x16 millelacs model has the optional 30,000 btu furnace and it heats great even in -25 and wind I would call unclaimed freight and ask them how easy of a job it is to swap it out
adamr
Are you fishing in it for long periods of time were every thing has a chance to warm up mine runs way less after 6 to 8 hours
Hawg
Also, do you use a fan on it? Getting the heat off the unit on a direct vent heater really helps. If you buy the fan kits they can be noisy though, I have mine on a riostat and it works great, and quietly. Also a small fan on the ceiling pointing down is important. Grainbelt
Check your duct work to see if it is secured to the furnace and to your output. Could you be heating up your cabinet?
riffraff
Just a thought,I bought a new ice castle this year and had the same problem. I found that the temperature "swing" or differential adjustment comes from the factory set at zero. This forces the furnace to restart immediately upon dropping below the thermostat setting. If you adjust this up to 2 degrees the furnace will run considerably less because of the +/- temperature "buffer".The adjustment is under the atwood thermostat cover on the left. It will slide down to move the differential higher. Now if I could figure out how to get it to make ice...
walleyewiz0212
Kinda sounds like a problem I had also. I have a 2012 Lake of the Woods with the 18000 in it. I live close to where they make ice castles so they said to bring it over there and they swapped it out at no charge. The owner said they have been having troubles with the atwoods so he put a suburban 20000 in there for me. I did this last spring so we will see if it worked or not once i get it out!! larryz
On the Ice Castle HSOforum they show the 20,000 btu as standard on all the 8x16 models. I know my 2012, also has a 20,000 and with spray foam insulation is very warm.
