Tap screen, tap question mark box that pops up, tap marker, tap blue tack in upper left corner to pick icon you want for this marker, rename marker if you want, hit set on GPS location, then hit Add.

Oops he was quicker than me at typing I guess.

Ok I was doing that but I can get different coordinates depending on where the tip of the pop up box touches the red pointer. I just figured it out if you zoom all the way in then you only get one, I was hoping you could just hit "mark" or something.

Still not getting it, I don't get a question mark when I tap the screen, I get a pop up like in the first pic then if I tap the pop up i get the second pic then if I tap the tack I get the 3rd pic and if I tap the tack nothing happens. I know I'm not following your directions but I'm doing what it will only allow me. full-26462-27287-image.jpg

I know you havent asked about this and perhaps you already know, but you can add objects on the screen which can be viewable by others through the community layer.

You will see these things from time to time on various lakes. So, if you want to keep the spot to yourself and avoid others from seeing it, mark it as you have done here and dont use the objects which could show on the community layer.

The community layer is nice for hazards, etc, but I keep my spots under markers.

I know last weekend out on the ice I went to go use it and it was was gone and I think it said "down load now" or something like that so when I got home with wi-if I downloaded it again. So do I need the new lakes north make it do what i want and will it cost me again? I think I got the app 2 years ago now.

I am using an Iphone, this might be a reason for the difference. I just tried the lakes north version and I could set on GPS location. Nothing pops up on when I tap the screen, but a magnifying glass with a crosshairs pops up if I hold my finger down on the screen. Then it gives me the marker screen. Not sure if android devices just don't have the set on GPS option or what is going on here. Also there is no new north version available. Only a U.S. or U.S./Canada version. Maybe Jnoel (navionics rep) can offer some clarification.

I thought about getting this app, but after research, I don't know why I would. I have a lowrance handheld with a navionics chip, which I also use on my boats unit. but with my handheld, and using my smartphone with the lake finder app from the DNR, this makes the app worthless in my opinion.

what do you users think of the app? seems like the free app from the DNR is just as good. but 11 bucks is not much to spend either.

is it worth the purchase?

Dude theres no comparison from the dnr maps and navionics.........wait yes theres a comparison dnr= basic hand sketch vs navionics 1 foot contours......really navionics is far superior in every way and well worth every peney and then some.

You can't mark way points and locations on the DNR app! So far the $14 I paid for my US/Canada Navionics has paid for itself and I haven't even hit the water for the winter (no ice). I use both the DNR app and the Navionics app and I have a Garmin handheld with a lake card in it...haven't used it in almost 5 years. I use my smart phone instead...easier...Phone can take pics GPS can't. It is totally worth every penny for the app.

I am impressed, I like it so far. I did not know it was 1 foot contours for all lakes, I thought it would have been the same as my chip, only the bigger lakes like mille lacs and big sandy. I still have not got the waypoint thing yet, but if its posible, I will find out how, I am sure. the map of my lake is missing just the minor structors that I know about, but still not that bad.

final price for app was 10.36

OK guys....I now get how to add markers icons, whether you are actually standing on the spot, or zoom in and place a icon on spots of the map you want to mark to check out later, when you actually get to the lake. My question now is how do you later pick one of those marked spots and "go to" it like with a regular GPS, when you tell it to go to a waypoint, and it will point you in the right direction. Also, I've stumbled across an option to tap the screen to add a waypoint. Is this the same as adding a marker?
