Archerysniper
I have 2 that I brought in and had breaks put on them. I also have a browning BAR with the BOSS system that is awesome.
jay83196
Does it shorten barrel having them put on, does it look just like factory, where have it done and how much? On the Browning do you adjust it for accuracy or just use to lessen recoil?Thank you.
cavalierowner
I had a muzzle brake added to my bolt action .300 H&H magnum about 4 years ago because the recoil was beating me up. It was done at Ahlman's and cost about $125 at the time. I see on their HSOforum now that it's up to $149. That muzzle brake made all the difference in the world. The recoil on that rifle is now about the same as my 30-06. The advantage of the muzzle brake is that you can take it off if you want to...although I'm not sure why anyone would. Whopper Stopper
As Archerysniper alluded to, I would find the rifle I wanted and have a brake installed. In some cases you have to send the rifle in but in others a good smith can install a brake. Do some research before settling on a rifle that just happens to come with a brake pre-installed. Look into brakes such as the Holland QD brakes, or Holland's Gen 2 Radial. Vais offers an excellent brake , or Magnabreak by MagNaPort. Keep in mind noise level is going to increase when using a brake. In most cases it won’t be you that notices it, but the guys next to you at the range definitely will.I have a Vais on a custom handgun. If I am shooting alone I always put it on. If others are at the range I will simply take it off. WS
fishinnut_3446
I would buy the gun you like and put a break on if it does not have 1,I have 2 .338 win mags and the 1 without the break stays at home!like the above poster said its like shooting a 30.06.
