BuckSutherland
Is there a night bite for walleyes on the lakes in that area?? Or is it like lake of the woods where they quit biting once it gets dark?I am thinking of pulling my wheelhouse out in early Jan but I dont know if its a good idea or not. How easy is it to find perch and northerns?

How easy is it to find perch and northerns? Perch, northerns, and walleye will be plentiful this winter in many of the waubay area lakes. I don't know much about the night bite, usually when we fish up there we make day trips or just fish all day and get a hotel room. Don't get hung up on just fishing Waubay; Reetz, Antelope, Bitter, and a host of others all can kick out great fish of multiple species. Jarrod32
The bite doesn't "shut off" at night, but it is nothing special. Dawn/dusk tend to be the best times in the winter for walleye, and mid-day seems to be better for perch.

Bureaucrat
I've fished perch, sunnies, and crappies up there for a few years. You can catch them, but they move around a lot. I've never caught more than 3-4 out of any one hole when they were really biting. I'd drill holes about every 15 yards until you find fish, then punch more holes closer together and keep hopping as they disappear. If you're willing to move, your odds of keeping on the fish are better. My favs are a mooska jig or a lindy rattlin flyer spoon.
BLACKJACK
Buck, did you ever make a trip out there? How'd it go?? What lake did you end up on? What are the regs in SoDak concerning eating and cleaning fish in a fishhouse?
