Fogging Oil

I want to winterize the outboard and have a can of fogging oil that I've used for the past four years. My question...does fogging oil go bad? Should I get a new can?

I wouldn't think so, but if it were me going though the effort I'd probably just get a new can anyway.

I don't think it can go bad. In the pressure can like it is packaged I don't think much can get at the contents to degrade it.

Oil is millions years old. If it still shoots out of the can it's good, use it.

Well, that's true to some degree but it has been processed.

Not exactly apples-to-apples, but if you've ever had an aerosol can of PAM or other cooking oil spray around for a while they definitely degrade with time. Point being, just because something is sealed in a pressurized can isn't necessarily all there is to longevity.

There are mineral based oils and vegetable based oils. One lasts forever and the other only half that long. Don't use old PAM to fog your motor.

If you want to use PAM and store it, be sure to buy the non-oxy stuff. Costs more but not really worth it

I understand. That's why I said it's not apples to apples, but it's beyond just being in a sealed, pressurized can.
