This year at the ice show I will be picking up a new otter thermal lodge. I was just wondering what is usually the deal at the show? Like how much percent off or special pricing? Also what is the best vendor to buy from when looking for a new portable?

Please share prior experiences and opinions

Should of went to the blaine expo they had good deals there. I bought a thermal otter lodge from thorne bros and it was $750. $100 dollars cheaper then i have been able to find anywhere else. I would look for a price around there they are willing to work with you.

Shop all the vendors against each other. You may find that you can do better at 1 place over the others once you start buying hyfax, covers, tow hitches, sportsmans caddy's and other goodies. I know the past few years there was some awesome deals and we sold out of many models. The full thermals went very quickly last year. Come see me at the Otter booth and we can set you up with a package that is to your liking and point you in the right direction as far as retailers. Cant miss me Im the tall ugly one.

I bought my non-insulated Predator at the show 2 years ago. I've made large purchases for the past 3 years and I always go on Sunday now as a rule of thumb as the vendors seem to be a bit more "motivated" to get rid of the inventory so they don't have to load it all back up and truck it back to the warehouses.

That being said, Northlander had a great point about inventory selling out early. It's a roll of the dice potentially to wait till Sunday.

I ended up purchasing mine from Reed's but again, talk to all the vendors and see who wants your business most. It's kind of fun but then again, I'm in sales so I may be a little twisted

Don't wait too long to purchase. I tried to buy a JM Thermal X last year and they were sold out by the time I made up my mind Saturday afternoon.

You aint kidding about waiting around to buy something. Last year I was at the HSO booth and wandered over to check out the Strikemaster Hoodies. I found one I liked and figured well I’ll come back through and buy one the next time around the loop. Not only was it sold out by then on that Fri, The XL I wanted was gone the rest of the weekend. The next time I was up at Strikemaster for an unrelated trip, I asked for the show special on a hoody and all I got was sympathy.

Lesson learned. If you see a deal that is fair to you, pull the trigger.
