Quackaddict9
Seen 5 today in a short evening walk from 4-5pm and shot 1. My gun would not fire at the first one that got up in front of me, wide open shot. I don't grouse hunt much but get out when I can and it's usually a short outing with a few birds seen. Private land. Ferny
Wow, 2012 one of the best grouse year I've seen in my life! I've been hunting them for 20+ years. I ended up my season missing two in a row and fumbling for more shells while 4 more flushed from the same spot. I have never flushed more than 3 at once but to have 6 from one spot just humbled me. What a way to end the year! I knocked a few out of the air and busted some on the ground or logs. Do I care what anyone else thinks about that? Nope, I'd still say my success ratio was still only around 20% or less. Yep, way less now that I think about it. My son and I moved at least 80 birds this year from 1st weekend of Oct until 3rd weekend in Nov.
