Jeff13
Can someone tell me the difference between these to units? Looking at getting a LX-3 used for a good deal, is there a big difference with the tc "true color" version. Thanks
JuanArellano
the Lx3 is not a three color unit meaning that your jig and the fish will be the same color on the flasher. the Lx3tc is a three color unit meaning that your jig is yellow and the fish are orange, the bottom is red. I hope this helps.
JuanArellano
these are the spec. on the lx3tc,000 watts of peak-to-peak powerImproved target distinctionEnhanced viewing, even in bright sunlightMovable zoom featurePatented multilevel interference rejectionPadded carry case includedThe new, patent-pending, TrueColor sonar flasher display of this LX-3tc unit features improved target distinction and enhanced viewing, even in bright sunlight. Zoom in on any segment of the water column with the patented, movable zoom feature. The patented multilevel interference rejection system prevents false returns from other sonars. 2,000 watts peak-to-peak power gives you a clear idea of what’s below. The patented, adjustable zoom mode provides you with these zoom choices: a 5 or 10 ft. zoom window in the 20 and 40 ft. scale; a 10 or 20 ft. zoom window in the 160 ft. scale. Target separation improves from 2.15" to 1" in the zoom mode. A super-bright display uses yellow, orange and red for easy-to-read signals. JuanArellano
and I think you can still have the Lx3 upgraded to the true color from marCum.
Brad B
the LX3 used a blended color format were the weak signal was yellow and then it went to orange for a medium signal and then the strongest signal would show up as red. this was the first flasher I had and then I sold it to get the new LX3TC. the LX3TC has true three color format. weak is green, medium is yellow, & strong is red. the LX3TC is easier to look at and tell what the signal return was doing over the LX3. both of them are good units and will do the job but the TC will be easier on the eyes. personally I woulnd't pay over $175 for a used LX3 (non TC) and $250.00 for a LX3TC. Jeff13
Thanks for the info, I might just call marc to see what it would cost to upgrade or update it to the TC version, if I can't find a used tc for a nice price.
Brad B
the best price I seen on a LX3TC was 2 years ago when Fleet Farm had them for $250.00 new. let's just say they sold out fast. I don't think you will ever see a new one that cheap again.

schweady
Marcum Tech in Brainerd did the tc upgrade on my LX-3 for $49.00. Of course, that was in November 2005.
