New Electric Eskimo Auger 8 inch???

I like the idea and no fumes and light weight in the Ice House but I have a Strike Master 10-inch and I don't know if I like the idea of going to an 8-inch auger.

Anyone have any thoughts on the new electric?

Going from 10-inch to 8-inch?

Thanks!

The ION Auger is made by Ardisam, the same company that makes Eskimo augers. They have a great reputation but the ION is brand new this year so you're not going to find any user reviews on it yet. They look like they'll be great, and I know the guys at Ardisam put in a lot of time testing and developing it ..... I don't recall hearing anything about a 10" drill for it though.

Yes the ion is new. So not much out there yet. I have a 6 year old Eskimo that Runs like a champ and has served me well. I went from a 9 to 8 inch hole and didn't mind it at all. Not much swimming in MN that wont fit up a 8" hole. You'll have to be the judge on the hole size.

Have heard very positive things about the auger. Havent gotten to use it on the ice yet, but, will be doing that soon. From just playing around with it, the auger seems very nice, just need to put some ice time in to give a detailed report, especially with battery life in the cold.

This will be the wave of the auger future though.
