NKLCOLT1911
I am going to be getting a striker suit this year but I am having a hard time deciding on which one to get, for the most part I fish in a shelter but I'm not against hole hopping either, any input from striker owners would be greatly appreciated. DTro
You are welcome to try mine on if you like. The hardwater suit not overly heavy but a little bulky for 40 degrees.I wore mine all day in the boat yesterday and did not get too hot at all. Of course I was just standing and casting jigs, but I was comfortable. As long as you mentioned Striker, they have the Climate suit that is actually 2 in one suits. You can zip out the liner for warmer weather. Pretty much like convertible ski jackets. The Climate in Camo is a sharp suit
cps420us
I bought the Lite suit last year and am very happy with it, plenty warm for me. If it's -30 outside, I'm not hole hopping anyways. They're pretty amazing for warmth as far as how lightweight they are.

If you fish out of a shelter mostly, i can't imagine needing the regular. It's plenty warm getting to a location & between moves. Keep in mind that you can always layer underneath if you feel like you want to run & gun fish out in the elements.

The difference between the LIte and regular is not only a difference in heat, but durability also. I own the LITE suit. I like it, but i wish it had a more durable shell like the regular version. I should add that i've never been cold int he LITE version...I'm a little warm blooded, but i've also been hole hopping in -20 with 40 mph winds and you won't feel a breeze....well besides not being able to feel your hands
NKLCOLT1911
truth- do you need to wear a base layer with your lite or do you just dress normal?
cps420us
I just wear a tshirt, sweatshirt and jeans
fisherman-andy
If money is not the issue, hands down the Climate suit. What more could you ask for?
Jim Uran
I have the Striker Lite Suit and haven't shivered yet I am a guy that loves to hole hop. Rarely do I spend a day in the shack, unless I have the kids with, or else I'm out at night fishing and taking it easy
TruthWalleyes
truth- do you need to wear a base layer with your lite or do you just dress normal? Jeans and t-shirt. Might toss a sweatshirt under if its real cold. Like I said, I am warm blooded and tend to be an active fisherman...But I'm also 6'6" and pushing 300#...So i'm not that active I also love striker for the length! NICE And LONG but will trim up for you short folks!!!
NKLCOLT1911
the climate sounds like a great option, any one know how warm it is with out the inner liners?
Jim Uran
I can't remember what I wear under my Striker Suit when it's cold cold cold out. But you can't beat the wind and water protection, as well as the fact that it floats!
DTro
From what i was told if you take the liner out of the climate you are left with the lite version suit. Best of both worlds
OnAFly
My knees get wet in my Clam suit. If I were to do it all again, I would go a different direction.
fishnowworknever
I have the regular suit...it is WARM! I tried on both over at the place in WBL...like truth said, it seems like the durability of the regular is more so than the lite, but i honestly don't know. That was the deciding factor for me. If you go with the regular, you will not get cold...ever.

Marcus Taplin
I have my new Climate Suit and from talking with Shawn, this new suit is their warmest and also their lightest suit all rolled into one. This is by far one of the best suits on the market! Here is a quick video on the new climate suit.
Mike Stark
truth- do you need to wear a base layer with your lite or do you just dress normal? careful wearing cotton as your base layer. once cotton gets wet it takes forever to dry. if your base layer is wet you will be cold. when im hole hopping and drilling a lot of holes i will sweat a bit. a quick drying base layer is the way to go. I do plan on trying out a new Striker suit this winter.
DTro
In my opinion the sizing is a bit large. Normally I get an XL and that is what I have now, I think a large might fit me a little better. I noticed that the knee pads are a bit low on me.If you can, try before you buy. Striker will have a booth at both the Hardwater Expo in Blaine and also the St Paul Ice Show
fisherman-andy
My last years model hardwater striker ice bibs I felt was little thin in the knee padding when compared to the likes of my Strikemaster bibs. I kneel alot when ice fishing and I could definitely feel some minimal uncomfort in them. Aside from that I couldnt keep my straps on no matter how loose or tight I made them they would slide off my shoulder.I havent had the chance to see the new suits yet and if the knee pads are more durable or thicker. But I do like the idea of the hand towels.I am definitely wanting the new strikemaster parka/bibs and will likely wait for a clearance sale late season to pick them up. StrikerBrands
From Striker Brands:Notes on the Climate: The Climate Jacket & Bibs have flotation in the shell so that when you remove the liners you still have flotation assist. The shell alone offers protecton to zero or below for most, yet is viable for spring and fall too. The waterproof/breathable shell can serve as a raincoat with its high 5000/5000 W/B rating, taped seams and waterproof zips. The most important feature is the built-in venting, including the mesh drains in the cuffs and hems and the zip vents that go to the skin (liner excepted). The Climate jacket is slightly tapered in the waist (by maybe an inch compared to the Hardwater) so that the shell is not too baggy when worn without the liner. The shell fabric is 330D Tussor, which offers lighter weight but good durability. However, the bib knees are 800D ballistic nylon endura and the lower knees and seat are 600D endura for better wear protection. The knee padding on all Striker Ice bibs consists of 27 layers of flotaion material stitched into a pre-curved knee design. This provides maximum comfort while walking or kneeling. Other brands use a single thick rigid foam insert, which most consider to be bulky and inefficient. Upgrades on the regular suit (now called the Hardwater) include smaller pockets, longer hood zipper, new suspender connectors, new high bib pockets, higher bib height, larger crotch panel, removable wipe towels, pocket zips and other minor improvements. The LITE suit remains unchanged.Read more at www.strikerbrands.com or www.strikerice.com. Please keep the comments coming. We appreciate the input!
NKLCOLT1911
Cool thanks a lot for that info, I'm going to going to the St Paul show to try on all of them to see what feels the best for me.
BradHawthorne
Washable is a big deal for me, being able to wash the suit and leave the water proofing in-tacked is a must I basically live in them come winter. After a few weeks the smell combo of fish slime build up, gas, oil and B.O needs to be washed off without a trip to the dry-cleaners. Looking forward to being able to wash my suit this year without a 50 mile trip to the dry cleaner.
